Renata Kallosh

Renata Kallosh (born in 1943) is a well-known theoretical physicist. She is a professor at Department of Physics, Stanford University. She is well-known for her contributions to string theory, in particular finding (along with Sandip Trivedi, Andrei Linde, and Shamit Kachru) the first models of accelerated expansion of the universe in low energy supersymmetric string.

Career

Renata Kallosh completed her Bachelors from Moscow State University in 1966 and obtained her Ph.D. from Lebedev Physical Institute, Moscow in 1968. She the held a position, as professor, at the same institute till 1989 before moving to CERN for a year. She joined Stanford in 1990 and continues to work there (as of 2011).

Research

Her current research involves theories of fundamental interactions, including gravity, as well as different aspects of supersymmetry, supergravity, and string theory. She is also working on the quantum theory of black holes and gravitational waves in supersymmetric theories. Recently she has been involved in studies of the cosmology of the early universe and properties of dark energy in the framework of string theory and M-theory.

Personal Life

Professor Kallosh is married to Andrei Linde. They have two sons Alex and Dimitri [1].
